Person who called nationalist party leader an Armenian beaten in Turkey

September 21,2018 17:42

Since the word “Armenian” is considered to be an insult in Turkey, the latest disagreement took place, which resulted in a beating. The attack took place between the Alanya district branch leader of the Turkish National Movement Party, Mustafa Turkdogan, and the Alanya district branch leader of the Turkish Aviation Association, Metin Akdeniz.

During a public event in Alanya, Turkdogan approached Akdeniz and slapped him, since Akdeniz “dared” to call the nationalist party’s leader, Devlet Bahceli, an Armenian on Twitter.

Right after the incident, the Turkish Aviation Association announced that Akdeniz has been removed from his position as leader of the Alanya district’s branch. It was clearly mentioned in the association’s announcement that the reason for his removal was his post on Twitter and the controversy surrounding that.

Akdeniz tweeted about Devlet Bahceli: “Bahceli was born in the Bahce district of the Osmaniye province. He is a descendant of an Armenian family from Siverek. The Islamified family left Siverek and moved to Bahce.”
