‘‘My Step’ alliance needs to learn lessons from that 81.5 percent, that is a dangerous number’: Tevan Poghosyan

“I’m happy that we at least learned how to vote. It’s accepted that, if there are no doubts in three elections, then that country is on the path to democracy,” said former parliamentarian, political scientist, Advisor to the Armenian president Tevan Poghosyan, regarding the results of the Yerevan City Council elections. According to him, the “My Step” alliance needs to take into consideration the percent of people who voted for them- 81.5- learn lessons from that, and not allow themselves to make mistakes.

“He needs to prove that the love and tolerance present in this new Armenia are important values and to take into consideration the good ideas of the other forces that participated in the election in order to show that Yerevan belongs to all of us. It’s natural that this large number presents a danger. Let’s remember 1991 and see how much Armenia has advanced since then. A question arises: did we learn anything or not? I hope that we will be on our best behavior,” Tevan Poghosyan said.

He expressed hope that the winning team will be able to find a way to work with the other political forces. “That will only show that, instead of following the mistakes of the predecessors, new approaches are taken. I think that Hayk will be able to find the right way, and it’s the public’s duty to keep him aware of even the smallest problems.”
