Sixteen-year-old Umut Ali Ozmen, who illegally crossed the Armenian-Turkish border on July 24th and was then arrested in Armenia, has been released. The Turkish boy toured Yerevan with his father and answered questions from the “Hurriyet” newspaper.
Umut Ali Ozmen said that it was interesting that led him to cross the border. He was always interested in Armenia and the people who live here.
A reporter asked him in a video that was published on the Turkish website, “Umut Ali, you crossed the border and reached the heart of Yerevan. What would you say, was it worth it?” The Turkish boy replied, “Yes, it was worth it. It’s a wonderful city and a wonderful place. It’s a clean city; you won’t see any garbage. It’s an amazing city.”
Ozmen emphasized that he was treated very well in the Armenian prison. When the reporter asked him if he was put under pressure or subject to violence in the prison, Ozmen answered, “No, everything was very good.”
