Nikol Pashinyan regarding passionate arguments behind closed doors and his shock

September 30,2018 15:39

“The Russian president and I both have the complete same understandings on several issues, but that doesn’t mean that we agree on everything,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a Facebook live stream.

He assured that the transitional, post-revolutionary state of Armenian-Russian relations is over. Nikol Pashinyan said that whenever he speaks about our country’s self-government, everyone thinks of that as something controversial, but the prime minister assured that there is nothing controversial about that.

Pashinyan said that Putin once told him personally that he completely respects and emphasizes the self-governing aspect of the relationship between both countries.

Regarding the summit of CIS countries’ leaders, Nikol Pashinyan remembered the EAEU summit and said that those sessions tend to be either behind closed doors or in front of open doors. Passionate discussions take place during conferences that are behind closed doors, meanwhile open discussions are similar to discussions in the political bureau.

Nikol Pashinyan described it a little. “I was participating in a summit for EAEU countries’ leaders for the first time in Sochi. Those meetings have two different parts: open and closed. I was in a closed conference for EAEU leaders and I was shocked. I saw how people were arguing passionately. During open discussions, it seems that everything is wonderful. But it’s even difficult for me to believe that such passionate and argumentative discussions take place behind closed doors. Let me confess that the format for meetings in the CIS and EAEU are interesting in that they’re places for speaking about certain issues, discussions, arguments, and trying to solve issues using those arguments.”
