From now on, on the Vanadzor-Gyumri route near the entrance to Gyumri, a statue of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will greet passersby. The statue depicts the prime minister with his famous backpack and hat, when he took his “first steps” in Gyumri. The artist does not like to give interviews. His daughter, Anushik Davtyan, told Aravot.am in an interview that her father had worked on the “My Step” statue since the beginning of the “My Step” movement. There was a smaller version of the statue in the beginning, after which this statue was created.
The statue’s artist had worked on the statue since the beginning of the movement. “My father decided to give the small statue to Nikol Pashinyan, but it didn’t work out. However, he decided to take his step with this statue, so that he can know that he also did something for the revolution. My father prepared this statue and placed it in Gyumri, since the entire process began in Gyumri. And so that people will remember and always see it, so that the revolutionary spirit will stay forever. Besides that, my father knew that people would be very happy with this statue. This is also a present to Gyumri.”
The decision to create the statue was solely the artist’s. The 2 meter, 20 cm tall statue was created completely by Armen Davtyan.
