Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received Director General of Russian Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Alexei Likhachev. Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of continued cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the energy sector and expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation.
The Prime Minister noted that the Government of Armenia prioritizes the development of nuclear energy in the country and expressed the hope that the cooperation with the Russian side would be effectively continued. Nikol Pashinyan stressed that the post-revolutionary transitional stage is over in Armenian-Russian relations, and there is complete mutual understanding between the two governments. The Premier pointed out that his government is keen to expand the scope of bilateral cooperation.
The parties talked about the joint efforts aimed at extending the operations of the second unit of the Armenian nuclear power plant.
Alexey Likhachev noted that the planned activities are being carried out in accordance with the timetable and added that the ANPP project is one of the most important cooperation programs of the two countries in the field of energy.
After introducing the interim results of the ongoing activities, Rosatom’s CEO presented the plans for the future.The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects for the development of nuclear energy in Armenia.
