Hayk Martirosyan granted victory to Armenia in 9th phase of World Chess Olympics

The Indian chess player lost to the Armenian chess player by 2.5:1.5 during the Armenian men’s match at the ninth phase of the World Chess Olympics in Batumi. Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargsyan, and Hrant Melkumyan all had tiebreakers.

The fourth player brought the winning point to Armenia. Young grandmaster Hayk Martirosyan defeated Krishnan Sasikirani.

After this victory, the Armenian team was divided between 2nd and 5th place with 15 points and, with individual points, is currently in 4th place.
