RPA parliamentarian Armen Ashotyan informed the prime minister during a questions and answers session in parliament about an attack against ARF parliamentarian Ruzanna Arakelyan. “I think that if we are to speak about justice and the importance of justice, then it needs to be for everyone. I expect that the government and the powers who listen to you from any platform receive an order to clarify the circumstances of what happened to our colleague and who was responsible for it.” Then, the police shared a message that they had a phone call with parliamentarian Ruzanna Arakelyan. She said that she was not subject to any violence, and that there was simply an argument between her and one of the women who came to the protest. The parliamentarian thanked the police for their concern and asked that they not visit her not invite her to the station.
Ruzanna Arakelyan told Aravot.am in an interview that she didn’t say that there wasn’t an attack. She simply explained why she doesn’t want to file a case. “My daughter is negatively impacted by all of this. My child’s mental health is more important for me. Do they think that someone needs to hit someone else in order for it to be considered an attack? It was a woman who was upset, just like all other participants in the protest. I calmed her down. If I didn’t, she might have gotten even more upset. She simply grabbed my arm and expressed her opinion that I’m a traitor… And I will say to the police now too that I’m not going to complain, I don’t want this case to continue, because my daughter’s mental health is important for me. I don’t want to talk about this anymore and I want to close the subject. If I complained, I would’ve gone to the police myself. I didn’t complain, so that means I have a reason. I ask that you please not speak of this issue anymore.”
