Aleksander Poceij from Poland was appointed head of one of the largest political forces in PACE, the European People’s Party. Eurointegration.com wrote about this.
The position for head of the European People’s Party had remained open after former President Cezar Florin Preda resigned after a corruption scandal had erupted. He was accused of helping Azerbaijani lobbyists carry out their work.
After that, there had been two candidates for the position- Nick Andreas and Aleksander Pociej. After secret voting, Pociej gathered 35 votes, and Andreas carried 30.
Pociej was a representative of the “Citizens’ Platform” political party and he is a relatively new member of PACE, having been a member since 2016.
