Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev announced that the short meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Dushanbe caused a decrease in tensions in Artsakh.
“I personally was a witness to how the leaders of those delegations- Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan- approached one another and discussed issues pertaining to the Artsakh resolution process,” he said. “Right now, tensions at the Line of Contact have decreased a bit.”
He also noted that organizations within the two countries have carried out appropriate actions in order to decrease tensions.
“We hope that there will be another meeting after this first meeting between the two countries’ leaders and that their meetings will have positive results for the conflict’s resolution,” he said.
