The chief of police of the Shirak region, Sevan Kocharyan, and the attorney general of Shirak, Karen Gabrielyan, warned community leaders during the last regional conference to stay away from committing crimes dealing with corruption, otherwise they will be forced to cease all activities. The attorney general said that he does not want to arrest anyone.
Gabrielyan announced that crimes dealing with corruption increase two times this year in comparison to last year.
“I want everyone to understand that no one can be free from legal punishment if we want to fix the problem. I also have the power to remove a community leader from their position which I have not made use of yet. I don’t like arresting community leaders. It hurts me deeply to do this. Please don’t force me to take that step.”
