“The social situation of our citizens has not changed, and therefore, raising the cost of transportation would be a heavy burden. Besides that, the quality of transportation will not be any better. Therefore, I don’t see any objective reason to raise the cost of transportation now,” Vahagn Minasyan said. He had been an active participant in the fight against raising costs in 2013.
“I am convinced that they will not be able to present any facts showing how raising costs will be an objectively good decision. Let’s say a person makes 65,000 drams per month. How can they use transportation and buy food? This will deeply affect citizens. Instead, we can think about optimizing routes and investing in buses until the state will have the opportunity to make the lives of citizens better,” Minasyan said.
He is also certain that the city council will discuss any decision with citizens and will make decisions based on a referendum.
