The committee for the creation of the Human Rights Defense Coalition met on October 17th, where they discussed and confirmed the coalition’s rules, voted for the governing body, and discussed ways to develop the coalition.
The coalition was formed within the framework of the “Human Rights Monitoring and Publicity” plan, which received funding from the European Union’s “Constructive Dialogue Commitment” plan.
President of the “Journalists for Human Rights” NGO Zhanna Aleksanyan said during the meeting that every organization within the coalition is well-known within its field and has high credibility.
After the foundation of the coalition, which is comprised of 10 NGOs, and after confirming the coalition’s rules, the governing body was elected, which comprises of 9 NGO representatives. It is planned that soon, other NGOs will join the ranks of the coalition.
