Russian MFA considers Bolton’s statement in Yerevan ‘careless’

October 30,2018 16:38

The Russian MFA considers the statement that National Security Advisor of the US John Bolton made, that Armenia would be better off purchasing American weapons, to be “careless.”

As “RIA Novosti” announced, Bolton’s speech was compared to former American Ambassador Richard Mills’ announcement where he spoke about several organizations in Washington providing aid to groups in Armenia. He also promised to give the country 26 million dollars in aid to strengthen the civil society and media.

“It seemed that such carelessness, which is no different from getting involved in another country’s affairs, couldn’t have happened. But it’s become clear that that’s not the case,” the office said.

It was mentioned that Bolton “demanded Armenia reject its historical role in international relations and especially did not hide that he was speaking about traditional relationships with Russia.”

“He also announced that after the parliamentary elections, Pashinyan is expected to take initial steps in the Artsakh resolution process. He also naturally did not forget to promote American weapons, and how Armenia would be better off purchasing American weapons than Russian ones,” the statement reads.
