“Discussions continue, and since no decision has been made, I cannot say anything,” said deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Rubinyan regarding the process to replace current Secretary General of the CSTO Yuri Khachaturov. Armenia initiated the process of replacing Yuri Khachaturov since he was charged with violating the constitution in his participating in the events of March 1st (the investigation is ongoing).
Ruben Rubinyan, commenting on evaluations that this will weaken Armenia’s position in the CSTO, said, “Armenia’s position in the CSTO is stronger than ever.” Regarding the information circulating in the Russian media that Armenia is thinking of giving Belarus its right to govern before the time limit (Belarus is to govern starting next year), Ruben Rubinyan emphasized, “There have been no decisions made, so I cannot share any information. It will be clear soon.”
