The campaigns for snap parliamentary elections on December 9th will last 12 days, according to a decision made by the Central Electoral Committee. According to the decision, the campaigns will begin on November 26th and end on December 7th. As the President of the Committee, Tigran Mukuchyan, said, the highest number for district ballots needs to be decided upon within 10 days of the proposed election date, and the documents needed to register political parties need to be presented to the committee no later than 25 days prior to the elections. In this case, the papers need to be presented no later than November 14th at 6:00 PM.
Tigran Mukuchyan stated that the election ballots for political parties and political alliances will be formed between November 14th-19th. “According to the law, one district candidate can be nominated for every 15,000 citizens. For example, there are approximately 200,000 voters in the Number 1 voting precinct, which consists of the Avan, Nor-Nork, and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts. Therefore, there will be no more than 13 candidates nominated for that voting district.”
Mukuchyan said that while there is not much time to prepare for the elections, the campaigns will not be held in large volumes.
