The Bright Armenia political party, headed by Edmon Marukyan, will be participating in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on December 9th. Edmon Marukyan announced this during a meeting with reporters at ‘Sputnik Armenia.’ He thanked his fellow political parties, Republic and Civil Contract, for working together, and especially for the formation of the Yelq alliance and its work. “The alliance’s mission is arguably finished.”
He said that the opportunities for collaboration with Civil Contract in the future have not run out. “Such a collaboration is possible in the future for the benefit of the citizens and the state. I think that both Bright Armenia and Republic have a chance of entering parliament. If we don’t get into parliament, who will?”
When asked whether or not it’s possible to create a new alliance in parliament with the My Step faction, Edmon Marukyan said, “The future will tell. We are prepared to invest in state building in the future. As far as how we will do that, the Armenian people are the ones who will answer that question through their votes.”
Marukyan said that he tends to not be nominated by the rating system. “We are discussing this issue.”
Marukyan emphasized that they are doing everything possible to make sure that Bright Armenia becomes the second most powerful force in parliament as a result of the elections. “All the possibilities are there. It’s obvious that the My Step alliance will be the most powerful force. In order for the political system to advance, BA needs to be the second political force in the National Assembly. I am 90 percent sure that this will be the case.”
