“The Republic party members are our colleagues. We have not left each other,” BA leader Edmon Marukyan told reporters at Sputnik Armenia regarding the fact that the Bright Armenia and Republic parties will not be participating in the elections on December 9th as part of the “Luys” alliance, but separately.
He commented on information spreading in the media that he offered head of the Republic party, Aram Zaven Sargsyan, to participate as part of the BA ballot. Sargsyan rejected the offer, which is why the two politicians separated. “There were discussions not only about our political party’s participation, but the alliance’s as well. There have been no other discussions. I read somewhere that we argued, but no such thing took place. There are no problems,” Edmon Marukyan assured.
Then he emphasized that BA will be participating alongside Republic in the Yerevan City Council as part of the “Luys” alliance. “The ideas for Yerevan will be carried out.”
According to Marukyan, BA, Republic, and Civil Contract have completed their mission as part of the Yelq alliance and will now try to participate in the upcoming elections as separate forces. “There is nothing bad about this. The political parties have the appropriate potential. The opportunities have not run out for our collaboration in the future. We have gone a long way together.”
According to Edmon Marukyan, he had heard people be sorry about the fact that BA will be participating separately in the elections, but he is sure that the party’s chances will not decrease.
