Head Architect of Yerevan: No monument to be destroyed

November 06,2018 17:40

The head architect of Yerevan Artur Meschian said that the building-monument on Aram 23 was accepted in the condition that it is in. “Landscaping work was carried out. The building is in a state of disrepair, so we have suggested a temporary way for it to be strengthened. Is it salvagable? Yes. Is it dangerous? Yes. If I say that the building will not be destroyed, then it won’t be destroyed. Relax, it won’t be torn down.” The architect ordered that children should not go by the building. The architect also said that no monument will be torn down anymore.

Regarding the “Old Yerevan” project, he said that several solutions need to change. “The “Old Yerevan” project is a great way to make an architect look bad since all data from the beginning was not presented. As long as I am the head architect, no monument will be torn down.”

According to him, there aren’t any architectural issues that cannot be resolved. New constructions will be completed within reasonable limits. According to him, all the controversial buildings were constructed before finding any reasonable solutions.
