Deputy from the Tsarukyan faction Naira Zohrabyan asked Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Karen Nazaryan during discussions for the 2019 budget about visa-free negotiations and whether such discussions will take place soon. Karen Nazaryan said, “Armenia and the European Union have signed agreements to ease visa restrictions and appropriate preparations need to be set for the agreement to be carried out.”
He said that meetings are being held and details are being discussed. Armenia has expressed its readiness to have a visa-free regime. Karen Nazaryan said that having a visa-free regime is recorded in the Armenia-EU agreement, and it is mentioned that Armenia will have a visa-free regime in 2020.
Karen Nazaryan said that this process is tied to changes in the justice and human rights sectors. “We hope that an evaluation committee will soon visit Armenia from Europe so that Armenia can receive the action plan that will grant us a visa-free regime with European countries.”
