After the RPA Executive Body session, reporters asked RPA member Vigen Sargsyan if Serzh Sargsyan will continue to remain the head of the RPA or if there will be a change in leadership, considering that he announced in April that Nikol Pashinyan was right and he was wrong. Vigen Sargsyan noted that this will be decided upon during the party congress and explained, “We have to hold a party congress in the spring of 2019 regardless of the circumstances. The party’s leadership needs to be formed during this congress. Holding the parliamentary elections now forced our party to be unable to normally organize a congressional session. That was the goal from a tactical perspective.”
Vigen Sargsyan did not exclude the possibility of Nikol Pashinyan secretly supporting the forces that would be a desirable opposition for him. “If Nikol Pashinyan is honest in his desire to form a new Armenia, he will vote for the RPA when he is alone in the voting booth.”
Debunking claims that the RPA made use of the consumer institute when it was in power, Vigen Sargsyan said that he does not remember such occurrences.
