“These elections need to be the best ones in Armenia. Do not sell your voice when they make an offer. Speak about how they tried to bribe you. Don’t let administrative resources get to you,” EU ambassador to Armenia Piotr Switalski said at the government building.
Acting Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski, the Armenian ambassador to Germany, the Armenian ambassador to Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Armenian ambassador to Sweden, and Armenia’s permanent representative to the UN signed a document regarding giving Armenia financial support for the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on December 9th.
The Armenian government, the EU, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Sweden are financing the “Support for the Armenian Electoral Process” project at 0.7 million dollars, 1.5 million euros, 0.7 million euros, 0.5 million pounds sterling, and 1.5 million Swedish krona respectively. The project aims to support the Armenian authorities to carry out honest and transparent elections, keeping in place voting machines that were put into effect in 2017, having live streams of the election results from 2,000 voting stations through having web cameras installed in 1,500 of them, improving the voter registration process and the information provided to voters, educating voters about the voting system and renewing existing educational systems, and through promoting how well women and young voters are informed.
