On 7-8 November, the screening requirements for cargo and mail shipments were discussed at a workshop in Luxembourg. The workshop was attended by representatives of relevant state institutions from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
Organised by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), the workshop aimed to explain in detail the various screening methods applicable to cargo and mail shipments, identify the challenges in this area and provide guidelines on how to mitigate them.
The event also presented best practices with regard to quality control of screening to be performed at national and entity level. The participants also had the chance to observe the implementation of screening procedures at LuxairCARGO, one of the largest cargo hubs in Europe.
The workshop was organised within the EU-funded “Supporting the implementation of aviation agreements in the Eastern Partnership countries and upgrading civil aviation safety and security standards in Central Asia” project.
