“If anyone thinks that the attack against Manvel Grigoryan was simply against him as an individual, then they are wrong. That was against the Artsakh Liberation War too,” member of the RPA Executive Body, RPA deputy Samvel Nikoyan told reporters regarding the criminal case opened against Manvel Grigoryan. He used Manvel Grigoryan to describe the current situation in the following way: “They look for someone who symbolized the liberation war, they start a campaign against him, they create the image of a terrible person, and then they destroy him.”
Samvel Nikoyan assured that the RPA stands with all heroes of the Artsakh Liberation War and with victory, and it will defend them. In response to the observation that there are specific claims against Manvel Grigoryan for possessing illegal weapons and for stealing other’s property. How can what happened to him possibly be against the Artsakh Liberation War? “The only accusation against Manvel Grigoryan is possession of illegal weapons. There are no other accusations against him. Whatever else was being kept in his warehouses became a source for propaganda.”
Samvel Nikoyan said that, according to his sources, what was found in the warehouses was provided to the “Yerkrapah” Volunteers Unit by the Ministry of Defense. “There was nothing illegal there. I wish the members of Yerkrapah would have found some courage and said, ‘Yes, that was for soldiers, but aren’t we soldiers too?’ The Yerkrapah needed to have all of that in its warehouses. There are written documents stating how everything was brought to the Yerkrapah unit.”
