On November 9-15, the delegation led by the head of the RA NA Armenia-China Friendship Group Hermine Naghdalyan was on a working visit to the People’s Republic of China. Within the framework of the visit the members of the delegation met with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Party Committee Secretary for the People’s Republic of China Zhang Yesui. Hermine Naghdalyan has noted that the Armenian-Chinese friendly relations have a history of many centuries and the cooperation of the two countries’ Friendship Groups is one of the important directions of the parliamentary diplomacy. According to the Head of the Friendship Group, political changes have taken place in Armenia and new parliamentary elections are appointed. She has expressed conviction that the Armenian-Chinese relations will have their continuation also after the formation of the new parliament.
According to the Party Committee Secretary for the People’s Republic of China, Beijing highly assesses the stable policy of Armenia in the South China Sea problems and in the issue of Taiwan. She expressed hope that in December the power formed in the NA extraordinary elections would continue the same policy and Beijing, on behalf of Armenia, would have a partner in its programme ‘One Belt, One Road.’
During the meeting both sides emphasized the active role of the parliamentary diplomacy in the inter-state relations.
Within the framework of the visit the Armenian parliamentarians met with the Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Qian Hongshan. Issues of the development of the inter-parliamentary relations were discussed.
There were meetings also with the Chinese scientists, as well as the Deputy President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Minister of Guandu State.
The delegation also visited the RA Embassy, where Ambassador Sergey Manaseryan told about the successes of the Armenian pavilion in Shanhai Expo exhibition and the interest of the Chinese companies with the Armenian goods.
The RA NA deputies Shushan Sardaryan, Jemma Baghdasaryan, Arman Saghatelyan, Karen Bekaryan and Lena Nazaryan were in the delegation.
