Nikol Pashinyan on controversial situation in the CSTO and Belarus supplying Azerbaijan with weapons

November 20,2018 14:36

If the CSTO does not reach a consensus on the CSTO Secretary General position, then we need to try and reach that consensus, since all decisions made in the CSTO are based on a consensus. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke about this in a press conference.

Aravot asked if the military agreement between Belarus and Azerbaijan and Belarus supplying Azerbaijan with weapons in the future is Belarus’ response to Armenia, and what Armenia’s relations with Belarus will be like, taking into consideration the fact that Pashinyan announced that our relations will no longer be adaptive. Pashinyan replied, “Three months ago, it supplied a batch of weapons for which they signed an agreement a while ago. This all took place within the circumstances that Armenia’s representative was the Secretary General of the CSTO. We condemn such activities and we consider such activities to be against Armenian national interests. And we think that such activities distort the activities of the CSTO. We need to have mutual explanations, and it needs to be clear for all members what duties we have towards other countries, what duties the countries have towards the organization, and what duties the organization has towards the countries.”

The acting Prime Minister assured that Armenia fully carries out its membership duties, which we cannot say about several other member nations.
