On 21 November, Piotr Świtalski, the EU Ambassador to Armenia and the representatives of three civil society organisations will host an event to announce new EU-funded projects, worth €850,000, geared towards enhancing civic engagement and oversight during the December 2018 electoral cycle in Armenia.
This support runs in parallel with the EU’s substantive contribution to the Election Basket Fund, which aims at strengthening the election administration system in preparation for the early parliamentary elections on 9 December 2018.
Support to elections in Armenia is to take the form of civic engagement and awareness raising among voters, electoral administration staff and other key stakeholders, and the funding of a media support and media monitoring initiative, as well as three different election observation missions.
