“It’s important to ensure a large amount of investments in Armenia because the volume of the Armenian economy and the volume of internal markets is too small for us to think about attracting large-scale investors. The percent of investments continues to remain far from the desired level that is necessary to ensure stable growth,” Acting Economic Development and Investments Minister Tigran Khachatryan said during a press conference. According to him, paying taxes and signing agreements need to increase in order to make the environment for business a good one.
The minister also said that there are weak circles which we need to pay more attention to in the future. According to Tigran Khachatryan, there needs to be growth in the percent of investments made from overseas. The minister said that there are issues in regards to that that need to be resolved, including the fight against corruption. Otherwise, according to the minister, if there is corruption, there won’t be long-term investments.
