“That is Jirair Sefilian’s announcement that has nothing to do with me. My view on the Artsakh issue is that Artsakh cannot have a government that will not work and collaborate with the government of Armenia. Armenia’s opinion always needs to be taken into consideration. But I cannot say what Sefilian meant. We don’t talk,” former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army Samvel Babayan told reporters, speaking about the announcement made by Jirair Sefilian, who created an Artsakh branch of the Sasna Tsrer party, where he said that he will be working with Bako Sahakyan’s administration to have a peaceful regime change in Artsakh.
Sasna Tsrer recently opened an office in Artsakh, and the Armenian branch of the party will be participating in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on December 9th.
“I think that it would be the wrong decision to join Artsakh with Armenia now. I also think that the opinions Sefilian and his team hold with regards to our relations with Russia are wrong. That is why we don’t speak. I expressed my view and he is aware of it,” Samvel Babayan emphasized regarding Sasna Tsrer’s view that Artsakh needs to become a region of Armenia.
