Pashinyan: ‘No longer any need for revolutions in Armenia’

November 26,2018 15:33

“The elections will not be decided through beatings, threats, bribes, or stuffing, but instead, it will be decided through votes,” Acting Prime Minister and head of the My Step alliance Nikol Pashinyan said during the rally in Talin. He emphasized that, in the future, the people will decide what forces will to in parliament and which place they will be in. The snap parliamentary elections are to take place on December 9th. Pashinyan called upon the people of Talin and emphasized that the biggest result of the revolution was that there is no longer any need for a revolution in Armenia. “Every time that you decide to have a revolution, you will be doing it through voting. The revolution took place because the people did not have the right to create a government through votes. They would steal your votes and using bribes and threats instead.”

Nikol Pashinyan assured that, from now on, the citizens’ right to have a revolution will be protected in all elections. “The people will decide how long I am to remain Prime Minister. Whenever they decide that I am no longer needed, I will cease all my activities as Prime Minister. This is the biggest result of the revolution. The authority does not belong to me or to my team, but to the people. We are simply the ones who are in authority because the people put us there.”

Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that, as the My Step alliance’s candidate for Prime Minister, he expects votes from citizens. “Why do I claim that title? Because anything else would have meant escaping. Could you imagine if I said that I wouldn’t be leading? That would mean that I would have abandoned the revolution and the people halfway through. In any case, I will only be Prime Minister if the people decide upon that.”
