“What changes will we see in 2019? We will completely free micro businesses from paying taxes. That means that, for example, businesses in Talin such as shopping centers whose inventory turnover does not exceed 24 million drams will be free from paying taxes. This is a result of our policy towards encouraging work,” Acting Prime Minister and head of the My Step alliance Nikol Pashinyan said during a rally in Talin. The snap parliamentary elections are to take place on December 9th.
Nikol Pashinyan also spoke about another change. “All individual taxi drivers will be free of all types of taxes. A taxi driver in the regions pays 8 thousand drams monthly in taxes. We will free drivers from that. People will be able to drive others places outside of their own work. They can do it without demanding pay, but if they get caught now, they will be fined. We will also be changing the fine system.”
Then, Pashinyan said that a point system will be put into place for drivers. As a result, repeated offenders will be stripped of their driver’s license. “Besides that, we will not only be allowing children an opportunity to go to the theater, to the movies, or to a museum once per year at the expense of the state budget, but we will also introduce art to children. Artists will be going to schools. We will initiate steps to make Armenia an industrial nation once more. New factories must open with thousands of workers. Several such plans are currently being discussed. The first domestic appliance factory will be opened in Armenia in December. There will be an Armenian brand for televisions. There are other things that I am afraid to speak about. Maybe I am just superstitious.” Nikol Pashinyan also disclosed that he has recently met with famous businessmen who said that they will be opening factories in Armenia. Pashinyan did not wish to say where.
