‘The RPA would have cried to the international community that Electoral Code was forcefully accepted’: Pashinyan

November 26,2018 18:41

“I would like to speak about one critique. When I say that we have carried out all duties to the people, we are accused of not changing the Electoral Code. Our team has carried out all its necessary duties in that direction. We prepared the draft of the Electoral Code, introduced it to parliament twice, but in the end, people abandoned it,” Acting Prime Minister and head of the My Step alliance Nikol Pashinyan said during a rally in Talin. The snap parliamentary elections are to take place on December 9th.

“They tell us that we should have forced the Electoral Code to have been accepted. We didn’t do that because that was exactly what the Republican Party wanted. If we did that, the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections would have been doubted. Why? Because they would have gone crying to the international community that we had an Electoral Code that was accepted by the international community and allegedly by the political parties, but now they force us to accept this new Electoral Code… They repeatedly provoked us so that we would have forced them to vote in favor of the new Electoral Code, so that the entirety of the electoral process would have been illegitimate. But we guessed their thought process.”

According to Nikol Pashinyan, he can guarantee that the results of the elections will be decided upon by the people, and it is expected of the people to vote so that an economic revolution can be carried out by the team that delivered the revolution.
