Candidates from the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan and Arpine Hovhannisyan presented the party’s pre-election plans.
Reporters asked why their campaign tickets are black and white. Ashotyan said that an idea is showcased there. “A black and white reality was enforced in Armenia over these past 6-7 months. Everything is either good or bad. What happened yesterday was bad, and what happened today is good. They’re good, we’re bad, they’re angels, we’re demons. The rules of the game in Armenia are black and white, but even in this reality forced upon us, we can decide our own agenda. All the worries people have can be enforced on the authorities.”
The inside of the campaign’s brochure presents solutions colored in the Armenian tricolor. Arpine Hovhannisyan said that they are ready to defend national interests.
Reporters asked them how many votes they expect to receive considering the fact that they say there are worried citizens in Armenia who will vote for the RPA. Ashotyan replied that the campaigns haven’t even begun, but the ruling political forces and the media have begun to spread that the RPA will not receive any votes. “Remember how you said that the RPA will not receive any votes from the podium in parliament? That is disrespectful towards Armenian citizens, first of all. It’s obvious that we will receive votes, and we will receive tens of thousands of votes. Even if we don’t get into parliament, those tens of thousands of people are members of the RPA. Fake democratic authorities remove those people from reality. People have begun to fear voicing their opinions. I know of many cases within my own district of people who tell me, ‘Armen, don’t open campaign offices because we won’t be coming. We won’t come because we’re afraid to lose our jobs. We don’t want someone to come to our homes and asked us why we visited Ashotyan’s campaign office.’ A big surprise awaits Nikol Pashinyan and his team on the night of December 9th.”
