On 1-2 December, the Armenian city of Gyumri will host the ‘Empowering Regions through High-Tech 2018’ forum. The event will gather entrepreneurs and young people engaged in the information technology (IT) and high-tech sectors from all regions of the country.
Organised with the support of the EU-SMEDA (Support to SME Development in Armenia) project under the EU4Business initiative, the forum aims at strengthening entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystems, and connecting tech-related and non-tech-related small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the regions.
The participants will present successful experiences and products of start-ups and companies, as well as identifying opportunities for regions to be part of the global IT and high-tech network. They will also discuss new models of cooperation with universities to develop a start-up ecosystem and an updated tech curriculum with a practical learning component.
The event will provide opportunities for tech start-ups to establish partnerships with non-tech-related SMEs.
The EU4Business SMEDA project supports the improvement of the business and investment climate for SMEs in Armenia. It aims to strengthen the private sector, support SME coordination mechanisms, and foster links between research institutions and the private sector, as well as providing access to finance for SMEs.
