“We cannot move forward, develop the economy, provide for the defense, and solve the Artsakh conflict without political decisions, political evaluations, and conclusions. After diagnosing our internal illness, we can then move towards mobilizing the nation,” head of the Sasna Tsrer party Varuzhan Avetisyan told voters while presenting the party’s pre-election plan.
As the first point of the “Rights and Justice” part of their plan, according to Varuzhan Avetisyan, they imagine that the state needs to give evaluations of former regimes’ activities and record the consequences of it, while also providing transitional justice. “Without that, it is impossible for law enforcement bodies that have leaders who remained from the former regime. They are used to making decisions based on their clans and their personal interests. Now, they are not receiving the demands that they tell us they do. In any case, their quality has not changed. There will not be justice.”
According to Varuzhan Avetisyan, they are preparing to get rid of relentless laws, such as the mandatory accumulative pension system, the red parking lines, and laws that limit high fines, which, he believes, were created solely to oppress the people and have not been reviewed since.
The Sasna Tsrer party also promises widespread amnesty if elected, which will also be for life prisoners. They will change the constitution and laws regarding political parties.
Varuzhan Avetisyan believes that the state governing system needs to be optimized, and he envisions having a hybrid system. The party promises to include the best professionals who will be from both the diaspora and Armenia.
