Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan told reporters, “We have created a working group during the pre-election campaigns and we are carrying out observations. There has been a growth in insults and prejudice in this sector. I consider this fact to be worrisome. I cannot give the pre-election campaigns any evaluations, that is not under my authority, but all of this has an impact on freedom of speech. There are many instances of hate speech on social media, which especially come from fake accounts, and the presence of such fake accounts- which is only expanding- is worrisome. Our observations show that the intolerance towards other opinions and prejudice speech or insults are spread by fake accounts.”
Speaking about the pre-election campaigns, Tatoyan said, “We are currently summarizing the first three days of the campaigns are have already recorded violations.” Tatoyan said that he will speak about the violations later.
