Zeynalyan assures not first case Prosecutor General participates in court session: ‘Things changed after revolution’

November 28,2018 19:36

Many people, including Robert Kocharyan’s lawyers, were surprised by the fact that Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan actively participated in the decision to imprison the second president based on getting rid of the principle of immunity.

Acting Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan told Aravot during an interview that there is nothing strange going on here. When asked about whether he remembers such a case like this considering how experts say that this is the first case in the Armenian legal system where the General Prosecutor has personally participated in a session, and how this was not even done for the October 27th case, Zeynalyan responded, “Yes, I remember such a case where the General Prosecutor was a participant. They were exceptional cases, but let’s agree that things have changed since the revolution.”
