Levon Shirinyan: ‘We presented ourselves as another option, not opposition’

November 29,2018 13:34

Head of the Christian Democratic Renaissance party, political scientist Levon Shirinyan, during his visit to Vanadzor, said that a balanced parliament where there are representatives from different forces is necessary for the country’s development. “I am warning everyone that it is dangerous for the Prime Minister to have an extreme monopoly of any party. That is why we have a formula: yes, our Prime Minister, who will likely be Nikol Pashinyan again, needs to have a majority in parliament, but that majority should not be too extreme. If there is an extreme majority, laws will be printed just as machines print money, and we will have something like a Republican legislation,” the party leader said and continued. “We presented ourselves as another option, not the opposition. The problem is that we are also the opposition. We reject the RPA until they make a political announcement and all those minions who were with them until last week. Or they sometimes left and then came back. Everyone is responsible for the current situation. That is how we can be considered opposition.”

Very few people from Vanadzor attended the rally. Shirinyan considered this to be a good thing. “This is great. They allow us, as a young political party, to not have such large party offices, expectations, and more. We have created groups of cars. Our party offices are our cars. We serve everyone on the phone and through other informative means.”
