Aravot asked RPA deputy candidate David Shahnazaryan about how questions continue to be asked regarding his candidacy as a member of the RPA on social media and in the media. For example, he is asked frequently if his team considers Russia to be Armenia’s ally or enemy, and how can Babukhanyan and Geghamyan be on the same list as he is. Davit Shahnazaryan answered, “I said that this is a trench. This is a trench that a force and its satellites stand in front of that fight against our state and Artsakh. They also decided to fight against everything that was created over the past 30 years, more specifically, ever since independence. Do you know what their future plans are going to be? What were they saying since the beginning? “Death to the RPA,” “the RPA is bothering us,” and then “Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan are bothering us,” and now they’re saying that “the CSTO is bothering us,” then they said “the parliament is bothering us,” then soon they’ll say “the government is bothering us, Artsakh is bothering us”… That’s why ideology is not discussed in the trenches. It’s a fact that the RPA is the only opposition for now.”
