During a public discussion and debate regarding corruption and the fight against corruption, ARF deputy candidate Gegham Manukyan said that the fight should not be discriminatory. “It should not be a situation where you pick and choose. Have we sees a situation where the government has taken the hundred richest people in Armenia and seen whether they became rich illegally? No! They take Vacho, arrest him, and then release him, but the Deputy Prime Minister posts videos with one of Armenia’s biggest oligarchs for PR regarding the creation of factories. Let’s speak realistically: we don’t see it. It is noticeable when they arrest one person but don’t arrest the other.”
My Step candidate Heriknaz Tigranyan said there needs to be a working body for transitional justice. To say that the fight against corruption is discriminatory means that everyone has been corrupt from the start. She said, “Donations were not accepted and property could have been stolen. This is considered theft, and since there has not been a court act, those donations are not accepted by the state.”
