“During every election, the authorities are accused of wanting to sell Artsakh. The authorities then accuse the opposition of being foreign agents,” ‘Menk (Us)’ deputy candidate and head of the Republic party Aram Zaven Sargsyan told Aravot regarding RPA candidate and former NSS head David Shahnazaryan’s claims that he foresees a conspiracy from Nikol Pashinyan and his team against Artsakh.
Aram Sargsyan emphasized that the ‘selling Artsakh’ subject has been circulating since the 1990s, and it’s not a correct statement. “This is all old news.”
Aram Sargsyan does not doubt that any authority, especially Nikol Pashinyan, has any thoughts about selling or buying. “Pashinyan is not a man of money. He doesn’t accept bribes. So why would he sell Artsakh? We need to be united on the Artsakh issue.”
He also said that he is afraid of the fact that Nikol Pashinyan is unlikely to come to any resolution on the Artsakh conflict, but instead will come up with a solution that the people won’t like. “There is an agenda by the Minsk group, and coming up with stuff during negotiations won’t work. We need to move in harmony with international laws, and make sure that the will of the people of Artsakh is included. If that happens, then we can negotiate.”
