December 09,2018 12:26

Armenia’s Chief of Police Valery Osipyan voted at the 10/54 voting station. During a small interview after he finished voting, a reporter from Azatutyun asked him what initiatives the police has put into place to ensure that these elections are different from previous ones. Osipyan said, “All preventative works were carried out by the police, and I think that these works were carried out well. Also, if we are to compare these elections with the previous ones, unprecedented campaigns took place. You yourselves can see that. Nothing extraordinary happened. All measures outlined by the law were taken.”

Regarding the police’s visit to the News.am news agency, Valery Osipyan expressed that he does not understand why the news agency stirred up so much controversy. “The police issued an explanation. The workers needed to be informed about the framework of some type of writing. The officer visited simply to give them the example.”

Regarding the arrest of Alexander Sargsyan’s son, Narek Sargsyan, Osipyan said that he has not moved to Armenia yet. “The appropriate documents are being gathered, which the General Prosecutor’s Office is working on. What’s important is that he has been arrested. He’s been arrested in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Then he will be extradited to Armenia.”
