Vice Speaker of the National Assembly and the second candidate on the RPA proportional list Arpine Hovhannisyan voted at the 9/35 voting station, and then answered reporters’ questions. She said that everything must be done for Armenia to be a country where having different opinions is not subject to pressure.
Aravot asked if they had received any alerts. She said, “The alerts about the My Step candidates and about them spreading propaganda are very worrisome. They tell people whom to vote for or they hand out the voting ballots with number 4 on top.”
Aravot stated that there are rumors that the reason why there has been a low percentage in participation is that the RPA would bring people in buses to the voting stations early in the morning, but that is not happening now. Arpine Hovhannisyan said, “I can give an opposing opinion. Despite the highest-level assurances, in reality, people understand that these elections do not reflect the true situation. This was a mandatory election for now and people find that the best way to express their disappointment is through not voting.”
