Pashinyan on Prosperous Armenia’s expected 2nd place: ‘We consciously accept voters’ decision’

December 10,2018 14:35

“We never expected for our alliance to be the only one in parliament. But voters are the ones to decide who will be in parliament besides us. As we have promised, we consciously accept the voters’ decision. We will not have any other effect on that decision,” Acting Prime Minister and head of the My Step alliance Nikol Pashinyan said regarding the fact that Prosperous Armenia will likely be in second place.

He did not answer the question of how he plans to collaborate with a force that he once labeled “anti-revolutionary.” According to the preliminary results of the election, Prosperous Armenia will likely be the second largest force in parliament. Reporters asked who will be the new Speaker of the National Assembly. Pashinyan responded, “We will discuss it during the time we are given. Let’s see who was voted into parliament, and who wasn’t. After that, it will be clear. We have candidates, of course. We also have candidates outside of our list.”

Regarding the fact that My Step spent more money than all other forces on the campaigns, Nikol Pashinyan said, “We could have spent less, and we could have spent more. As far as I know, we spent a lot less than the law limits. We were the leading force, of course… we were also leading in the elections.”
