International observers’ evaluations of the snap parliamentary elections in Armenia were unprecedentedly positive.
Special coordinator of the OSCE mission Peter Osusky said, “The conclusion was that the elections took place in free conditions, and there was a lot of trust. There were open political debates and online media was present. There were some worries about the financial procedures for the elections, which created unfair conditions. Overall, there was a lack of violations, there were no purchased votes or pressure, which allowed for real competition. All observers noted that the Electoral Code was upheld and there was an open and clear atmosphere during the campaigns. Even our observers said that they would like political leaders to have debates similar to yours.”
He continued, “I was here 15 years ago as an observer. What I saw in the past, as the driver said who took me to the voting stations, was that there is no hope in Armenia. But I saw that now there is hope in Armenia, thank God.”
