According to the head of the Modus Vivendi center, Ara Papian, the elections were free and transparent, but not fair. “The rating system does not allow for fair elections because it was not a fight for ideas and plans, but instead, superficial things,” Ara Papian told Aravot.
He did not agree that the forces that entered parliament were ones that supported the revolution. “Do you mean Gagik Tsarukyan? I don’t think that Prosperous Armenia was ever a supporter of the revolution. Prosperous Armenia was one of the pillars of the violent regime. Bright Armenia joined the movement too late and condemned the revolution. I think that many revolutionary forces remained outside parliament. Forces that will never become opposition entered parliament. They may criticize, but they will never be opposition.”
