Newly-elected deputy of the My Step alliance Hovhannes Igityan was asked by Aravot about whether or not he thought the Republican Party was successful in carrying out its promised surprise on December 9th against Nikol Pashinyan. “Perhaps it was a surprise for them that they did not pass the 5 percent line. That was not a surprise for me, for example, since they did not prepare correctly for the pre-election campaigns. They had a high level of aggression and there was nothing positive in their suggestions. This was the reason why even their political party members, which I believe is about 160 thousand people, did not vote for the RPA. This was perhaps the surprise. But I cannot say what kind of surprise they were expecting. Perhaps they were referring to the secret recordings that they had and decided to publish in the last few days to try and change something. If that’s the case, then the question of how they got that recording rises, as well as whether or not they had any connections to that. I don’t know what they meant, but I didn’t notice any bombs or surprises.”
