Nikol Pashinyan receives newly appointed Latvian Ambassador to Armenia

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Ingrīda Levrence, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Armenia (residence in Tbilisi). Congratulating the Ambassador on her appointment, the Acting Prime Minister wished her every success in her mission.

Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia keen to expand bilateral ties with Latvia, as well as to deepen cooperation within the framework of the European Union. In this context, the Acting Prime Minister stressed the importance of Latvian Parliament’s ratification of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union. With reference to the changes taking place in our country, Nikol Pashinyan stressed that Armenia is moving towards the development of democracy and, therefore, we highly value our relations with all partners.

Thankful for the reception, the newly appointed Latvian Ambassador assured that she would make every effort to promote multifaceted ties between the two countries. She said that as a member of the European Union, Latvia is prepared to share with Armenia the experience of cooperation with the EU and support us in this process. Ingrīda Levrence stressed that a strong effort needs to be made in order to tap the existing potential in bilateral trade, education, information technologies, culture and other industries.

Concerning the possibility of boosting the bilateral trade turnover, the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia pointed out that his government provides incentives for foreign investment in information and high technologies, agriculture, industry and tourism.

Touching on the reforms aimed at improving the business environment, tax legislation and protecting investments, Nikol Pashinyan offered the Ambassador to introduce Armenia’s investment opportunities to Latvian business circles.

In conclusion, the parties exchanged views on regional issues and the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Ingrīda Levrence congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the successful holding of early parliamentary elections.
