December 21,2018 16:40

“All of our activities have been aimed towards increasing the level of effectiveness within the structure,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan told reporters regarding the situation caused by the recallment of former Secretary General of the CSTO Yuri Khachaturov.

The issue of having a new Secretary General will be discussed in the CSTO in 2019. Reporters asked Anna Naghdalyan, “What position does Armenia have regarding the fact that Belarus’ candidate for Secretary-General and its Security Council Secretary Stanislav Zas visited Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, and received the support of those countries’ leaders?”

“Since there has been no final solution to the issue of having a new CSTO Secretary General, we cannot voice our opinion on any individual,” Anna Naghdalyan said.

When asked if Zas will be visiting Armenia, Naghdalyan responded, “As of right now, there are no preparations for a visit to Armenia by the Belarusian Secretary of the Security Council.”
