‘Our goal is for Robert Kocharyan to be released’: Protests in Stepanakert

December 24,2018 14:37

Protests took place near the cultural center park named after Charles Aznavour in Stepanakert in defense of former President of Armenia and Artsakh Robert Kocharyan.

The initiators of the protests held speeches condemning the decisions to detain Robert Kocharyan. The organizers briefly presented Robert Kocharyan’s history and his investment in the Artsakh Liberation War, and they called upon the court to release him immediately. During their speeches, they frequently chanted, “Freedom for Robert Kocharyan.”

One of the organizers of the protests, Grigori Afanasyan, told Aravot that his intention is for Robert Kocharyan to be freed. He noted that the protests in Artsakh cannot cause any problems for the societies of Armenia and Artsakh. “Robert Kocharyan needs to be released immediately, and we will continue until that happens. And if this problem is not resolved by the end of the year, we will make all of Artsakh rise,” Afanasyan said.
